I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Austin, Texas. I earned my Ph.d. in Counseling from Kent State University in Ohio and I have been providing therapy for over 30 years.
My role is to listen carefully and understand you perspective so that we can work together to find an approach that best supports you and your loved ones.
As a dedicated couple therapist, some of my happiest moments are when I “graduate” a couple with whom l have collaborated in recreating the closeness and connection that made them a couple in the first place.
I believe in healing and that partners can heal their relationships, and that a connected relationship can heal both partners. Although the deepest pain occurs in relationships, the greatest healing is also possible in this context.
Therapeutic Approaches
Emotionally Focused Therapy – EFT is a therapy approach which uncovers the underlying cause for recurring emotional reactions in relationships. In order to develop empathy and an understanding to promote real change.
The Gottman Method – The goals of The Gottman Method are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
Consultation & Training
As a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist and Supervisor, I offer consultation to therapists who want to improve their practice of EFT.
